Men。This is a very dignified and elegant black felt hat from the 1940s\'. The hat is one piece shaped in a beret-like look. It sits asymmetrically on the head, so there is an elastic band attached to the inside. There are narrow satiny bands adorning one side, and a profusion of black rooster feathers on top. To cover questions quills, there is some frail veiling attached which is just for looks, and cannot b e extended. There is also a large hat pin with a black bead, as photographed. This is such a great look! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
